EXHIBIT COLLABORATORS

Cheech Marin

Cheech Marin, the visionary behind the exhibit, is a third-generation Mexican American who holds one of the world's largest private collections of Chicano art. The recipient of the 1999 National Council of La Raza Kraft Foods Alma Community Service Award and the 2000 Imagen Foundation's Creative Achievement Award, Marin is renowned for his three decades of work as a comedian, film actor, director, writer, musician and actor.

Cheech not only attracts fans through his comedy, films and drama series; he is also quite popular with kids for his work in children's music and animation. In 1997 he released his first bilingual children's album titled "My Name is Cheech, The School Bus Driver," the year's number-one selling children's album in the country. As a result of the phenomenal success of this album, he is now preparing to release a second bilingual record titled, "My Name is Cheech, The School Bus Driver - Coast to Coast."

Cheech is extremely passionate about the Chicano community and says of the CHICANO exhibits, "It will be a rip-roaring party and everyone is invited."

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Hispanic Scholarship Fund President and CEO Sara Martinez-Tucker is nationally renowned as an expert resource on Hispanics in education. The organization she leads is respected as the premier scholarship fund serving Hispanic Americans and has awarded more than $58 million in scholarships to more than 45,000 Hispanic students since its inception in 1975.

For the 2000 - 2001 academic year alone, HSF awarded more than $11.7 million in scholarships to nearly 5,000 students. The organization also recently established the Cheech Marin Endowed Scholarship Fund, which will benefit Latino college students in the San Francisco Bay area.

The CHICANO exhibit will award 45 (three per host city) scholarships to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund on behalf of its corporate sponsors.
